Volunteers

Upholding the mission, principles, and vision of LoveNoEgo, The Volunteer Advocate Team is a volunteer community outreach team that advocates for Love and Communication. Our advocation purpose includes supporting the LoveNoEgo Brand of ensuring success for our kids and young adults. We encourage volunteers of all kinds as we aim to utilize your strengths and areas of passions to help strengthen our team and better this world. There are many ways to get involved. Overall, we want to teach and show the youth how to live from their natural love space rather than the egotistical space. And we do that through four main services: Professional Motivational Speaking, Mentoring, Workshops, and Athletic, Fitness, & Health Training.

Some Purposeful Acts include: - Recruitment of Other Volunteers Assist and or Table at Community and Organizational Events and Workshops - Connect With Other Organizations, Individuals, or Groups with Similar Missions - Perform Administrative Work Create, Help Create, and or Lead Programs and Events - Dedicate a minimum of 1-2 hours a week to the cause. Mentors

Overview:

As a Youth Mentor at the Love No Ego Foundation, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting young individuals in their personal development. You will work closely with youth in our at-risk society, providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and mentorship to help them navigate the challenges they face and achieve their full potential. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young people through helping them live with purpose instead of fear, while also contributing to the community's overall well-being.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentoring: Develop and maintain supportive relationships with assigned youth mentees, serving as a positive role model and advocate.

  • Individualized Support: Provide personalized guidance and support to youth mentees, addressing their unique needs, challenges, and goals.

  • Utilization of LNE’s Four Principles: Helping youth develop the courage to be themselves through instilling spirituality, education, exercise, and community into their daily lives.

  • Life Skills Development: Teach essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution to help mentees thrive in various aspects of their lives.

  • Emotional Support: Offer a listening ear, empathy, and emotional support to mentees, helping them cope with stress, anxiety, and other emotional challenges.

  • Community Engagement: Facilitate opportunities for mentees to engage with the community, participate in extracurricular activities, and explore their interests.

  • Advocacy: Advocate for mentees' needs and rights within the community, educational institutions, and other relevant settings.

  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess mentees' progress towards their goals, identify areas for improvement, and adjust mentorship strategies accordingly.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other staff members, volunteers, parents/guardians, and community partners to provide comprehensive support to mentees.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mentorship activities, including progress notes, assessments, and relevant communication.

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with youth, preferably in a mentoring or counseling capacity.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with young individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

  • Healthy and effective Ccommunication Sskills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of mentees and the organization.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

  • Must pass background checks and screenings as required by the organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, psychology or related field (or relevant experience)

 

Attributes:

  • Empathy: A youth mentor needs to understand and empathize with the challenges and experiences faced by the young individuals they are mentoring. Empathy helps in building trust and rapport, making it easier for mentees to open up and seek guidance.

 

  • Patience: Working with youth requires patience, as progress may be gradual and setbacks may occur. A patient mentor can provide consistent support and encouragement, even during difficult times.

 

  • Positive Role Model: Mentors should exemplify positive behavior and values that they want to instill in their mentees. Being a positive role model helps in shaping the attitudes and behaviors of young individuals in a constructive manner.

 

  • Active Listening: Effective communication is essential for building strong mentor-mentee relationships. Active listening involves not only hearing what the mentee is saying but also understanding their feelings, concerns, and perspectives.

 

  • Adaptability: Every mentee is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. A mentor should be adaptable and flexible in their approach, tailoring their strategies to meet the individual needs and preferences of each mentee.

 

  • Respect: Respect is fundamental in any mentoring relationship. Mentors should respect the autonomy, dignity, and rights of their mentees, while also setting clear boundaries and expectations.

 

  • Encouragement: Encouragement and praise can boost the confidence and self-esteem of mentees, motivating them to strive for personal growth and success. A supportive mentor provides constructive feedback and celebrates the achievements of their mentees.

 

  • Trustworthiness: Building trust is essential for the mentor-mentee relationship to thrive. Mentors should be reliable, honest, and trustworthy, maintaining confidentiality and fulfilling their commitments to their mentees.

 

  • Resourcefulness: Mentors should be resourceful in connecting mentees with the necessary support services, opportunities, and resources that can help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

 

  • Passion for Making a Difference: Above all, a non-profit youth mentor should have a genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young individuals. Dedication to the mission and values of the organization and a commitment to serving the community are essential attributes for a successful mentor.

Treasurer (Board Position)

The Treasurer conducts financial management and/or oversight.

Manage or oversee the management of the financial affairs of the organization, often including such basic tasks as reconciling bank statements, managing QuickBooks system, building business credit, and managing cash flow.

May also be responsible for investing funds consistent with applicable laws.

Should be knowledgeable about who has access to the organization’s funds and any outstanding bills or debts owed.

Create and maintain systems for ensuring the foundation's ongoing solvency and oversee the development of the organization’s financial policies, such as check signing authority, expense reimbursement, credit card usage, and petty cash policies.

 

Budgets. Responsible for preparing, or facilitating the preparation of an annual budget, as well as regularly monitoring and comparing the actual revenues and expenses incurred against the budget. The development of a budget that supports the organization’s goals and drives decision-making is an important part of The Love No Ego Foundation's success in effectuating its mission. The budget should be reviewed and approved by the board, however, the Treasurer should be prepared to explain and justify the document.

Reports. The Treasurer should have thorough knowledge and understanding of the Love No Ego Foundation's financial reports and important financial ratios. The Treasurer should keep the board apprised of key financial events, trends, and concerns, and her assessments of the organization’s fiscal health. The Treasurer is also generally responsible for completing or ensuring the completion of, required financial reporting forms (including the correct  IRS Forms) in a timely manner and making these forms available for the board’s review.

 

Financial Liaison. The treasurer should be able to translate financial concepts and information for board members who do not have financial backgrounds or substantial financial experience. The Treasurer should spend time learning the particulars of the organization’s finances and the applicable laws, which may include laws related to earned income, the unrelated business income tax, appropriate expenditures, and prudent investments. The Treasurer can be most effective to the board when she/he is facilitating and encouraging the board’s strategic thinking about the short and long-term financial vitality of the foundation in relation to its advancement of the foundation's mission.

Volunteer Coordinator (#2, Board Position)

The volunteer coordinator's responsibilities include recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization's purpose to the public in relation to the mission of The Love No Ego Foundation.

LNE Public Speaker

Overview:

 

As a Public Speaker for the Love No Ego Foundation, you will be responsible for effectively communicating the mission, goals, and impact of the non-profit organization to various audiences including donors, volunteers, community members, and the general public. Your role will involve delivering compelling speeches, presentations, and talks to inspire, educate, and engage stakeholders in supporting the organization's cause.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Speech Development:

 

  • Research and gather information about the non-profit organization, its programs, achievements, and impact.

  • Develop engaging and persuasive speeches tailored to specific audiences and occasions.

  • Incorporate storytelling, statistics, and anecdotes to convey the organization's message effectively.

 

Public Speaking:

 

  • Deliver speeches, presentations, and talks at various events, including fundraisers, conferences, community gatherings, and educational workshops.

  • Engage audiences through dynamic delivery, effective communication techniques, and audience interaction.

  • Adapt speeches to resonate with diverse audiences and cultural backgrounds.

 

Advocacy and Awareness:

 

  • Advocate for the non-profit's mission, values, and initiatives to raise awareness and garner support.

  • Educate the public about social issues, challenges, and solutions addressed by the organization.

  • Mobilize individuals and communities to take action and get involved in supporting the cause.

 

Relationship Building:

 

  • Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders through effective communication and engagement.

  • Represent the organization professionally and ethically in all interactions.

Media and Outreach:

 

  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to amplify the organization's message through traditional media, social media, and other communication channels.

  • Participate in media interviews, press conferences, and public relations activities to increase visibility and reach.

 

Training and Support:

 

  • Provide training, coaching, and support to staff, volunteers, and ambassadors to effectively communicate the organization's message.

  • Foster a culture of effective communication and public speaking within the organization.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Proven experience in public speaking, storytelling, or communications, preferably in the non-profit sector.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences with empathy and authenticity.

  • Knowledge of social issues, philanthropy, and advocacy.

  • Flexibility to travel and work evenings or weekends as needed for events.

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, or related field (preferred, or relevant experience)
