LNE Requirements to Become a Mentor:
Grounding Info:
We call our program, The Courage to Be You, Youth Mentoring Program. We have a "Be, Do, Have" Phase that is rooted in our Four Pillars of Spirituality, Exercise, Education, and Community. We also apply "trauma-informed care principles", "therapeutic, restorative, and healing action steps", and "Being and Now Practices".
Mentor Training Operations Checklist: This is a paid 8-hour training.

Pass Background Check: performed by Core Screening

Get trained on The LNE Mentoring Experience Framework. Includes 6 hours in person. 2 hours virtually.

Read Agree to the terms of the LNE Team Handbook

Mentor Shadowing: shadow mentoring session(s) with a LNE Mentor and Mentee

Complete Form Board and Team Application
Note that there are other trainings that happen once every two years which includes the following:

Mandated Reporter Training (virtual): Virginia Dept of Social Services/Child Protective Services. CWSE5692 - Recognizing and Reporting Child Neglect

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (in person): Completed in house/scheduled as a team training with Region Ten Community Services Board.

Trauma Informed Care Training (in person): Completed in house.

CPR and First Aid Training (in person): American Safety and Health Institute: Completed in house every 2 years.
Upon completion of the above Phases, New LNE Mentor receives the following:

Payment to Mentors:
Mentors are paid biweekly for sessions completed and related expenses. Payments are made via direct deposit from Love No Ego Foundation.
